The Challenge

Alongside the need to hire high quality talent to achieve their growth goals, Global-e required strategic support to aid their decision making on the opening of a new US office which would become their new R&D hub.

Alongside several other business factors, the most important thing was to locate somewhere not sparse in IT and engineering talent they could compete for. The founders had narrowed their options down to Austin or Atlanta.

The Solution

Org3D were retained by Global-e to research, report and advise on the suitability of both locations.

The first task was to map out the IT and engineering talent landscapes in Austin and Atlanta, investigating the number of relevant people in certain job roles in each city. The data was dissected further to report on two things that are very important to Global-e; the abundance of talent with ecommerce tech stack experience and those working within start-ups.

Suitable ‘donor’ companies were identified, where future talent could potentially be hired from. The willingness of candidates within those companies to move was reported on.

Finally, salary surveys were conducted in both locations across two different jobs roles, taking data from circa 100 candidates.

The Results

The data was analysed, interpreted and presented to Global-e’s CTO and founders; it was agreed that Atlanta was the best location for the new R&D hub. Within two months, Global-e opened their new office in Atlanta and made their first hires there.
