Role: VP Sales

Location: US Wide (ideally East Coast but not essential)

What they do

  • German start-up – Seed currently with plans for Series A around the $5m/$6m ARR mark
  • $3.5m ARR currently – looking to take into $10m + within the next 18/24 months or so
  • 80% growth YOY
  • Expanding into the US now further – currently 6/7 people in the US, mostly on the BD side
  • 35 people in the company
  • 2 frontline salespeople, 1 was intended to be the sales leader but not quite ready – they need to move NOW for a VP Sales

About the role

As our VP Sales, you work remote and take ownership from day one by building the sales organization of Abusix. You roll up your sleeves, learn about and sell our established products to understand the markets we operate in, before extending the existing team and scale. At the same time, you define and build our future sales strategy and extend the existing product-market-fit and marquee customers. In this role you work closely with the CEO and VP Finance as well as our Marketing and Business Development teams and contribute to the success of our company.
  • Execute, refine and expand the go-to-market strategies for the sales-led and product-led business model.
  • Personally, engage in deals as Executive Sponsor, as a difference-maker for Account Executives and prospects.
  • Understand the products and sell hands-on as needed to the telco, hosting, and enterprise customers in North American and European markets.
  • Meet the sales team’s quarterly quota targets objectives.
  • Deliver accurate forecasts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Build up and maintain intra-department and cross-functional processes related to revenue generation.
  • Become a spokesperson for Abusix and our products.

About you

  • Player-Coach – you are able to play but also coach the team for best performance.
  • Knowledge in the security market and / or SaaS.
  • Experience in Start-up / Scale-Up environment – been there, done that.
  • Ability to take ownership and quickly grasp the knowledge about our products.
  • Use resources and funds cleverly and innovatively.
  • Full professional proficiency in English. Speaking multiple languages is a plus.

Afternoons

After lunch, our target markets have risen, and so your duties will shift to maximising time with people on the phone. This will involve:

Business development
You’ll take the details gathered in the morning to reach out to new prospects, which may include phoning prospects, then booking in Zoom calls after.

Following up
Some clients and candidates will need a bit of chasing after you’ve spoken to them. This might involve getting interview feedback.

Headhunting
As for the candidates you previously headhunted who haven’t yet responded on LinkedIn, you’ll reach out to them again.

Wrapping up
You’ll perhaps confirm interviews, send calendar invites or proposals for retained projects. There will be a team debrief, and you’ll reflect to enable goal setting for the next day.

Mornings

Mornings are when all our clients, candidates and prospects are asleep, so this is our preparation time. This consists of mostly marketing activities:

Goal setting
Goal setting for what you will get out of the day is a crucial part of how we work. You should note that things change, so midweek you may have to tweak it to stay on track.

Communication
Overnight there may have been offers made, interview feedback, responses to marketing emails, or calls booked in. You’ll reply to these, so recipients will see it first thing their time.

Discovery
You’ll use the likes of Crunchbase, LinkedIn and ZoomInfo to discover exciting companies and their people’s details in our niche, and the best candidates to network with.

Build projects
This is gathering all the information from the previous step. You’ll set up email campaigns with tailored messaging, as well as create bespoke video pitches.
